An Open Letter to Our Healthcare Heroes
A special thank you on this Doctors’ Day.
Dear Healthcare Heroes,
This one’s for you.
It’s for every one of you that show up and go above and beyond the call of duty everyday to save lives, and to preserve and improve the health of those in need. From the frontline physicians enduring the pain of 3 a.m. night shifts and emergency calls to the nurses checking vitals and providing support to patients and their families. We thank you.
This one’s for all the surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical techs, residents and medical students in operating rooms around the world fighting so that yet another patient can breathe their next breath. It takes a special kind of human to care for others even in the darkest of hours. We thank you.
It’s for the countless therapists, medical assistants, device technicians, front desk receptionists and cleaning staff working around the clock to ensure that the physical and emotional needs of the sick are being met.
This is for all the caregivers near and far offering compassion to the ill, regardless of who they are, what they look like, where they come from, what they believe in, or how much money they have. We see you, and we thank you.
It’s for every single one of you that has sacrificed your own health and safety, holidays, time with family, friends and dreams to rise to the unprecedented challenge of COVID-19.
It’s for all the healthcare heroes that have worked tirelessly to save the lives of others even as your own family, friends and acquaintances fell ill and for those of you that have lost cherished loved ones. We feel your pain, and we thank you for your bravery.
Last but not least, it’s for the many scientists and technologists within the healthcare community dedicated to advancing science and best practices. We celebrate your accomplishments and thank you for your tireless efforts.
