Listen: New “For Startups, By Physicians” Podcast on the Science of Movement
Sparta Science’s Dr. Phil Wagner Explains How Force Plate Technology is Disrupting Physical Therapy
In our latest For Startups, by Physicians podcast, we discuss how the science of movement is being applied to transform better health and wellness for everyone. Our guest is Dr. Phil Wagner, MD, CEO and founder of Sparta Science, a healthtech startup dedicated to promoting movement health, and an invaluable member of Inflect Health’s investment portfolio.
Sparta’s force plate technology and cloud platform is a gamechanger for how we integrate movement in proactively diagnosing conditions, so this episode is for people in the physical therapist and fitness industries, as well as healthtech founders:
In conversation with Andrew Smith, President of Inflect Health, Dr. Wagner shares his experiences as an athlete, fitness coach, and physician, and how they led to the founding of Sparta Science — and his company’s approach to health and wellness through movement.
First developed in collaboration with elite military and sports organizations, Sparta Science is now bringing its technology and expertise to physical therapist networks across the country. As Phil puts it in the episode: “When you want to be your healthiest self, movement is a key part of that.”
“Hospitals are slow to adapt, they want every single data piece absolutely secured,” Andrew observes, reflecting on Inflect’s enthusiasm for working with Sparta Science. “With Sparta, the plate is only slightly larger than the scales that are already in clinics anyway, and it won’t interrupt the workflow or throw them off, but provides a lot more data.”
